Co2 Emissions Impacts Climate and Oceans!

Posted November 22nd, 2011 by Chris Pratt

Despite a “general consensus” among climate scientists that Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) is occurring, the public and politicians continue to engage in a most ill informed debate over the evidence, existence, and theory of AGW.

The Yale 360 website offers many informative articles on this topic. A recent post shows that Co2 has an even more indisputable impact on the acidification of the oceans of the world that absorb a lot of the C02 emissions. The acidification in turn has huge impacts on coral reefs and the plants and animals of the ocean.

Latest job in Montpelier

Chris with a window in the “window pony” outside the window wagon

Our latest job is a full retrofit on 7 double hung windows (6/1) on a 1907 house in Montpelier. These sashes are 1-3/8th in thick and made for sash weights, but the jamb opening do not have weight cavities, which suggests that they were put in at a later date to replace the original windows.

The invisible balance insert into the sides of the sash and work well in windows this thick. They are  a good alternative to vinyl jamb liners that often clash with historic look of old windows.

Foggy Insulated Glass Units (IGU’s)

A lot of people ask me what can be done about fogging.  The general consensus is:

  • fogging happens after time. especially on the south side of the house
  • defogging systems are not long lasting, then again replacing the glass may only last 20 years at the most
  • keeping the glass shaded from the direct sun helps with longevity.

Here are what others have to say. Read more →
